Rebeck, McNally Plays Swap Spots in Second Stage Season

Second Stage Theatre has announced schedule changes for The Scene and Some Men, both previously announced for the company's 2006-07 season.

Theresa Rebeck's The Scene, which had announced a first performance on February 6, will now begin performances earlier, on December 12, with an official press opening on January 11. The play will be directed by Rebecca Taichman. The Scene is black comedy that takes on New York, the entertainment industry, marriage and even Ohio, centering on three old friends hitting middle age who have their worlds upended by the new hot, young thing.

Some Men, by Terrence McNally, was originally set to begin performances on November 23, but will now start on February 23 with a mid-March opening. Trip Cullman directs the New York premiere. Some Men looks at the evolution of gay relationships and same-sex marriage in America. It had its world premiere in Philadelphia in May 2006.

Second Stage Theatre's 2006-07 season will begin on September 6 with director Jo Bonney's revival of subUrbia, the groundbreaking play by her husband, Eric Bogosian.
