Cheyenne Jackson will join Victoria Clark and playwright Nicky Silver in the cast of Silver's new play The Agony and the Agony, set for a three-week run at the Vineyard Theatre from December 8-22. The production is part of the off-Broadway company's Lab series, open to members only. Terry Kinney, who directed Silver's Beautiful Child at the Vineyard, is set to direct.
Jackson is best-known for his starring role in the Broadway musical All Shook Up and for his portrayal of the real life hero Mark Bingham in the 9/11 film United 93. Other Broadway credits include Aida and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Regional credits include West Side Story, The Most Happy Fella, Children of Eden, Hair, Carousel, Damn Yankees and Kismet.
In The Agony and the Agony, Tony Award winner Clark The Light in the Piazza plays an ambitious actress married to a desperate playwright, played by Silver Pterodactyls, Raised in Captivity, The Maiden's Prayer. Jackson plays an aspiring young actor whose arrival mixes things up even more.
The Vineyard Theatre is currently celebrating its 25th-anniversary season, which opens with Anne Washburn's The Internationalist starring Annie Parisse and Zak Orth in leading roles. The play is currently in previews and will open off-Broadway on November 7.
