Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad Brings Flamenco Dance to Palace 12/11-22

World renowned flamenco dancer Joaquín Cortés will bring his solo show Mi Soledad to Broadway's Palace Theatre for a limited engagement December 11-22. Opening night is December 12. The show will play a total of 10 performances: evenings on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and one Sunday matinee; there will be no Wednesday performances.

Mi Soledad My Solitude is described as a 90-minute fusion of flamenco dance, music and song. Combining the musical rhythms of jazz, classical and flamenco genres with a live 10-piece orchestra and a seven-member vocal ensemble, Mi Soledad features music and lyrics by José Carbonell, Antonio Carbonell and Cortés.

Since its Mexico City debut last year, Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad has played engagements in London, Venice, Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Lisbon, Lima, Madrid, Kiev, Moscow, Barcelona, Caracas and Buenos Aires. Mi Soledad marks Cortés' Broadway stage debut.

An internationally celebrated dance superstar, Joaquín Cortés was born into a gypsy family in Cordoba, Spain, in 1969. At 12, he moved to Madrid and began studying dance. Three years later, he joined the Spanish National Ballet and traveled around the world. He has collaborated with artists in a variety of genres throughout his career, including Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Debbie Allen and filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. His work has been seen in the U.S. on the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards, and he as performed worldwide at venues including the Kremlin, the White House, and Venice's La Fenice Opera House, Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center Theater and City Center.

Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad features costume design by Jean Paul Gaultier and lighting design by Francois de la Ossa and Ricardo Requejo. Antonio Carbonell also serves as musical director.
