Cast Announced for World Premiere of Anne of Green Gables Musical

Casting has been announced for the world premiere of the new musical adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, which will begin performances on March 23 at off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre, and run through May 5, with opening night set for March 29.

The family-friendly Theatreworks/USA production stars Bethe Austin I Sent a Letter to My Love as Marilla Cuthbert, Erick Devine Seussical, Ragtime as Matthew Cuthbert, Andrew Gehling Hello Dolly, Paper Mill as Gilbert Blythe, Piper Goodeve The Pursuit of Persephone as Anne Shirley, Heather MacRae Falsettos as Rachel, and Alison Walla Fiddler on the Roof as Diana. Alison Faircloth Junie B. Jones and Michael Mendiola After the Fair fill out the ensemble.

This brand-new musical features book and lyrics by Gretchen Cryer and music by Nancy Ford, the team behind I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road and The American Girls Revue. It will be directed by Tyler Marchant.

Anne of Green Gables, based on the beloved novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, follows the journey of the wildly independent and adventurous red-haired orphan, Anne Shirley, who is mistakenly sent to Green Gables to live with an elderly bachelor and his spinster sister. Soon after her arrival, she quickly turns the entire community upside-down with her indomitable spirit and scope for imagination.

The production will feature scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by David Woolard, lighting design by Clifton Taylor, sound design by Eric Shim and orchestrations by Dave Hab.
