Evil Dead The Musical has announced a February 17 closing date at New World Stages. Directed by Hinton Battle and Christopher Bond, the show began previews on October 2, 2006, and opened on November 1. At closing, Evil Dead will have played 34 previews and 126 regular performances.
Not your typical boy-meets-girl-meets demon comedy, Evil Dead The Musical is based on Sam Raimi's 80s cult-classic horror films. The musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. With mayhem descending upon this sleepover in the woods, the action heats up in uproarious numbers like "All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons," "Look Who's Evil Now" and "Do the Necronomicon."
Evil Dead The Musical features Jennifer Byrne, Jenna Coker, Renée Klapmeyer, Tom Walker, Ryan Ward, Brandon Wardell, Ryan Williams and Darryl Winslow. It has book and lyrics by George Reinblatt and music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt, with music supervision by Cipolla and choreography by Battle. The cast recording will be released on the Time Life label this spring.
