Sherie Rene Scott, the star of such Broadway musicals as Aida, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and the upcoming The Little Mermaid, will present her one woman show Sherie Rene Scott...a work in progress on May 14 at 9PM and May 15 at 8PM at the Zipper Theater.
Scott performed an earlier version of the show in December, at which point Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek wrote: "Scott's act is an original and a real emotional journey that deftly turns from slyly raunchy to surprisingly touching at the drop of a hat... Keep your eye out for this one down the road and don't you dare miss it next time."
Scott will play Ursula the villainous octopus in Disney Theatrical's The Little Mermaid, which starts this summer in Denver before bowing at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in November. She made her Broadway debut as Sally Simpson in The Who's Tommy and, after notable stints in Grease and Rent, earned great acclaim playing Amneris in the Disney production of Aida. In 2006, she received a Tony Award nomination for the musical version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Off-Broadway, she has been seen in Debbie Does Dallas, The Last Five Years and Landscape of the Body, which earned her a 2007 Lucille Lortel Award.
Sherie Rene Scott...a work in progress was written with Scott by Thoroughly Modern Millie librettist Dick Scanlan and features direction by Scanlan and David Drake author/star of the Obie-winning solo show The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. Composer Tom Kitt High Fidelity is the musical director. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door and can be purchased by clicking here
