Broadway Grosses: Beauty Builds; Company Closes Strong

With only four weeks left in its Broadway run, Disney's Beauty and the Beast is packing 'em in at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, filling the house to just shy of 100% and grossing more than $960,000. The Tony-winning revival of Company went out strongly, filling the Barrymore Theatre to over 83% in its final week and grossing close to $450,000. Several other long-running shows topped 98% of capacity, including Hairspray helped, perhaps, by buzz for the upcoming feature film, Mamma Mia! The Lion King, Jersey Boys and Wicked, joined by newbies Mary Poppins and Spring Awakening.
