Three Mo' Tenors, featuring a trio of African-American tenors who perform a mix of operatic music, jazz, gospel, soul, spirituals, Broadway and the blues, has set dates for an off-Broadway production at the Little Shubert Theatre. The show will begin previews on September 12 and open on September 27, directed and choreographed by Marion J. Caffey. According to the Three Mo' Tenors website, the off-Broadway run will continue through January 27, 2008.
Three Mo' Tenors began in 2001, when RCA released the original live recording of the show and it was televised on PBS' Great Performances. Since then, it has toured the country with two casts of three singers who take the stage in alternating performances. The current cast consists of Kenneth Alston, James N. Berger Jr., Ramone Diggs, Duane A. Moody, Victor Robertson and Phumzile Sojola.
Among the songs included on the Three Mo' Tenors CD are "Recondita Armonia," "Let the Good Times Roll," "Le Reve," "Set Me Free/Hit the Road Jack/Georgia on My Mind," "Superstar/Let's Get It On" and "Let the Praise Begin/It's My Time to Be Blessed."
