R&B recording star Brian McKnight will join the Broadway company of
Chicago as slick lawyer Billy Flynn for a six-week limited engagement, October 8 through November 18, at the Ambassador Theatre. Prior to Broadway, McKnight will perform the role with the Chicago national touring company from September 25 through October 7 at Washington D.C.'s Warner Theatre.
McKnight is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, arranger and producer with seven platinum or multi-platinum recordings to his credit, including the Grammy-nominated Anytime 1997, which sold more than two million copies, and Back at One 1999, which sold more than three million copies.
His hit singles include "One Last Cry," "You Should Be Mine," "The Way Love Goes," "Love Is" with Vanessa Williams and "Back at One," which reached number one on the Billboard 100 charts in 2000. His most recent album, Ten, was released in 2006. McKnight is currently the co-host of "The Brian McKnight Morning Show" on KTWV The Wave, a Los Angeles-based smooth jazz radio station.
The Broadway cast of Chicago currently stars Lisa Rinna as Roxie Hart, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Harry Hamlin as Billy Flynn, Rob Bartlett as Amos Hart and Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton. The national tour cast includes Michelle DeJean as Roxie, Terra C. MacLeod as Velma, Gregory Harrison as Billy, Eric Leviton as Amos and Melba Moore as Mama Morton.
