The Public Theater has delayed the first preview of its production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Central Park's Delacorte Theater due the absence of director Daniel Sullivan, who was injured after falling through a trap door on the set on July 31. Performances will begin on August 8 rather then the previously announced August 7. The production will open as scheduled on August 23 and run for five weeks, through September 9.
Sullivan was taken to the hospital after his accident, where he is being treated for four fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. According to a production release, he is making a speedy recovery and will return to rehearsal in a few days.
