Broadway Grosses: Steady, Not Spectacular

Sales held fairly steady at Broadway box offices this past week, but only eight of 29 shows filled their houses to more than 90 percent of capacity. Young Frankenstein, now in previews at the Hilton Theatre, has declined to report its grosses. In addition to the long-running musicals that typically make the top-five lists, Spring Awakening and Grease continue to do excellent business, along with the newly resurgent Hairspray. The week's one opening, Chazz Palminteri in A Bronx Tale, bowed to generally good reviews at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
