Broadway Grosses: Grinch Glides In

As the stagehands strike continued for the second full week, an eighth show returned to Broadway: Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas played 11 of its scheduled 14 performances at the St. James Theatre after reopening on November 23, grossing more than $1 million over the Thanksgiving weekend. Mary Poppins continued to thrive, filling the New Amsterdam Theatre to 101.28% and grossing more than $1.35 million. Xanadu boosted its gross by almost $75,000 and filled the Helen Hayes Theatre to over 90% of capacity.
