Off-Broadway's Frankenstein will play its final performance at 37 Arts on Sunday, December 9 after 25 previews and 45 regular performances. The new musical directed by Bill Fennelly and based on Mary Shelley's classic novel opened on November 1, 2007.
In the weeks following the final performance, the cast of Frankenstein will go in to the recording studio to record the show. The album will be released in early 2008 on a record label to be announced shortly.
Frankenstein tells the epic story of the rebel doctor who challenges the laws of nature and morality when he breathes life into his inanimate creature. Faced with intolerance and adversity, the doctor's creation also learns to rebel against world around him, ultimately destroying the very man who gave him life. The show features music by Mark Baron, book and lyrics by Jeffrey Jackson and an original story adaptation by Gary P. Cohen.
The cast of Frankenstein features Hunter Foster, Christiane Noll, Steve Blanchard, Jim Stanek, Mandy Bruno, Becky Barta, Nick Cartell, Casey Erin Clark, Struan Erlenborn, Eric Michael Gillett, Leslie Henstock, Patrick Mellen and Aaron Serotsky.
