Broadway Grosses: Strike Ends, Sales Strengthen

The 19-day stagehands strike ended on November 28, allowing darkened Broadway shows to resume performances on November 29. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which had reopened on November 23, came out on top for the week, grossing more than $1.2 million in its 13 performances. Perennial chart-toppers Wicked and Jersey Boys resumed their usual spots in the top five, filling their houses to capacity. The limited run of Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner, was also welcomed back by packed houses, filling the Richard Rodgers Theatre to 96.93%.
