Manhattan Theatre Club will present the world premiere of Liz Flahive's From Up Here as part of its spring schedule at New York City Center Stage I. Presented in association with Ars Nova, the play will begin previews on March 27, 2008, and open on April 16, directed by Leigh Silverman.
From Up Here replaces the previously announced world premiere of Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger starring Matthew Broderick, which was to be directed by the playwright. Pre-season notes had set an opening night of February 26 for The Starry Messenger; no reason was given for the cancellation.
From Up Here was initially developed at Ars Nova through the Out Loud play-reading series and in-house workshops. A plot synopsis of the play was not given in MTC's press announcement. Casting and design team for the production will be announced in the coming weeks.
