The Seafarer to End Broadway Run on March 30

The Seafarer will end its run at Broadway's Booth Theatre on Sunday, March 30. At the time of closing, the Conor McPherson drama will have played 19 preview and 133 regular performances.

The Seafarer stars Conleth Hill, Ciarán Hinds, Sean Mahon, David Morse and Jim Norton. Hill and Norton also starred in the acclaimed 2006 National Theatre production at the Cottesloe Theatre. After starting previews on October 30, the show didn't open on Broadway until December 6, one of many opening nights delayed by the stagehand strike.

In the chilling new play, it's Christmas Eve and Sharky Morse has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother Norton, who's recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan Hill and Nicky Coster are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. But with the arrival of a stranger Hinds from the distant past, the stakes are raised ever higher. In fact, Sharky may be playing for his very soul.

Next up at the Booth Theatre is Laurence Fishburne in Thurgood, a biographical portrait of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall by George Stevens Jr. That production had previously announced a start date of March 30; new dates for previews and opening night have not yet been confirmed.
