New Musical The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island Extends at the Vineyard

The new musical The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island Or, the Friends of Dr. Rushower will extend its off-Broadway run for two weeks at the Vineyard Theatre, through March 16. The show opened to strong reviews on February 12 and had been scheduled to run through March 2, directed by Bob McGrath.

The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island features noted cartoonist Ben Katchor's drawings as an animated background for a story set in and around Manhattan and on a tropical island of exploited factory workers. Katchor wrote the show's libretto, with music by Mark Mulcahy and choreography by John Carrafa. The ensemble cast is led by Peter Friedman, Bobby Steggert, Stephen Lee Anderson, Tom Riis Farrell, Jody Flader, Matt Pearson and Will Swensen.
