CTI Presents Whitehead Award to Nederlander Honcho Nick Scandalios

Nick Scandalios, Executive Vice President of the Nederlander Organization, will be presented with the Commercial Theater Institute's Robert Whitehead Award for outstanding theater producing. The reception will be held on March 11 at Sardi's.

Scandalios, a 1988 graduate of the Commercial Theater Institute program for aspiring producers, is an important member of the Nederlander Organization, one of the largest owners of legitimate theaters in the world, as well as one of the largest theatrical producing organizations in North America. The Nederlander family owns or operates theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego, Detroit, Tucson, San Francisco, North Charleston and London and is currently represented on Broadway by the following productions: Grease, Hairspray, In the Heights, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Rent.

The award, named after the late Broadway producer who brought over 80 shows to Broadway, was established in 1993 by the Commercial Theater Institute. Past honorees are David Binder, Susan Quint Gallin, Dennis Grimaldi, Eric Krebs, Kevin McCollum, Benjamin Mordecai, Marc Routh, Ane Strickland Squadron and Randall Wreghitt.
