A cast recording of the off-Broadway musical Adding Machine is expected to be released on June 3 on PS Classics. The album will be produced by Tommy Krasker, who's also readying upcoming recordings of Sunday in the Park with George and A Catered Affair.Adding Machine will be recorded on April 14.
Featuring a score by Joshua Schmidt, who wrote the libretto with Jason Loewith, the musical stars Cyrilla Baer, Joel Hatch and Amy Warren, as well as Joe Farrell, Jeff Still, Adinah Alexander, Niffer Clarke, Roger E. DeWitt and Daniel Marcus.
A musical adaptation of Elmer Rice's 1923 play, Adding Machine tells the story of Mr. Zero Hatch, who after 25 years of service to his company is replaced by a mechanical adding machine. In a vengeful rage, he murders his boss. An eclectic score follows Zero's journey to the afterlife in the Elysian Fields where he is met with one last chance for romance and redemption.
Adding Machine opened at the Minetta Lane Theatre on February 8 and has been nominated for six 2008 Lucille Lortel Awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Featured Actress and Best Director.
