Brigadoon tells the story of two disillusioned Americans on vacation in Scotland, where the friends unintentionally discover a village which comes alive for one day every 100 years. The show's lyrics and original book were by Alan Jay Lerner, with music by Frederick Loewe including such classic songs such as "Almost Like Being In Love" and "Waiting for my Dearie."
Director and choreographer Rob Ashford won a Tony Award for his choreography for Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2002. He was Tony-nominated for his work on The Wedding Singer and Curtains, and worked as choreographer on this season's upcoming Cry-Baby. He recently directed and choreographed an critically acclaimed production of Parade at the Donmar Warehouse, receiving Olivier Award nominations for his work.
Revised book-writer John Guare won a Tony Award for his book to the musical version of Two Gentlemen of Verona and was Tony-nominated for his plays The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation and Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, as well as the book for the musical Sweet Smell of Success. He received an Oscar nomination for his screenplay for Atlantic City.
Brigadoon will feature sets and costumes by Christopher Oram, lighting designer by Paule Constable and sound design by Brian Ronan. It is being produced by Ostar Productions and Liza Lerner.
