Hallie Foote and David Rasche will receive this year's Richard Seff Awards, presented by Actors' Equity to character actors aged 50 or older for best performance in a supporting role in a Broadway or off-Broadway production. The award consists of a $1,000 honorarium and a crystal trophy.
Foote appeared this season in the Primary Stages production of her father Horton Foote's comedy Dividing the Estate, which will transfer to Broadway in the fall. Rasche was honored for Classic Stage Company's revival of Chekhov's The Seagull.
Established in 2003 by Equity member Seff and chosen by a jury of theater writers, the annual awards honor character actors who have been a member of Actors' Equity for 25 years or longer. An actor may be the recipient of the award only one time. Last year's winners were Mary Louise Wilson and David Margulies.
Presentation of the awards will take place June 10 during Equity's Eastern regional board meeting.
