Robert Foxworth is set to join the Broadway cast of August: Osage County on June 17 as Charlie, the genial husband who struggles with his cantankerous wife, Mattie Fae. Foxworth will replace Francis Guinan, who originated the role on Broadway and in the play's first production in Chicago. August: Osage County is currently running at the Music Box Theatre, directed by Anna D. Shapiro.
Foxworth co-starred in Manhattan Theatre Club's off-Broadway production of The Receptionist earlier this season and most recently appeared on Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Twelve Angry Men. His other Broadway credits include Judgment at Nuremburg, Honour, Ivanov and Candida. In addition to appearances in the films Syriana and Transformers, Foxworth is known for his TV work, playing Chase Gioberti in seven seasons of Falcon Crest as well as Brenda Chenowith's psychoanalyst father in Six Feet Under.
August: Osage County is the winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, Drama Desk, New York Drama Critics Circle, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Play, in addition to earning seven Tony Award nominations.
