Broadway Grosses: Results Steady; Legally Blonde Up

The gap between the hits and the rest of the field continues, with more than half of all Broadway shows filling their theaters to less than 75% of capacity this past week. Overall grosses remained on par with the previous two weeks, as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof continued at more than 95% of capacity despite star Terrence Howard comparing eight shows a week to slavery and South Pacific and The Little Mermaid remained the season's hottest new musical productions. In the week's biggest jump—thanks, perhaps, to the debut of MTV's reality show on The Search for Elle Woods—Legally Blonde saw a $140,000+ increase in its grosses.
