Love Child, a new comedy written and performed by Broadway vets Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton, will make its New York debut as part of Primary Stages' forthcoming season. The play will be performed four times a week Sunday at 7 PM, Tuesday at 10 PM, Wednesday at 8 PM and Friday at 2 PM beginning October 12, running in repertory with Lee Blessing's A Body of Water at 59E59 Theaters. Love Child is set to open off-Broadway on October 26 and will run through November 19. No director or creative team members have been set.
Love Child is described as a two-man show about the night one classic play spoke so loudly to its audience that the audience felt compelled to talk back. It was first produced by the New York Stage and Film Festival in 2005.
Jenkins can currently be seen on Broadway as George Banks in Disney's Mary Poppins. Additional Broadway credits include Roundabout's revival Big River, Wrong Mountain, Big, Angels in America and the original Big River, which earned him a 1985 Best Featured Actor Tony Award nomination. Stanton has appeared on Broadway in The Coast of Utopia trilogy and A Small Family Business. Off-Broadway, he has appeared in The Right Kind of People. His numerous television and film appearances include Dennis the Menace, The Cosby Mysteries, The Stepford Wives and Law & Order.
Primary Stages is beginning its season with A.R. Gurney's Buffalo Gal, which opens on August 5.
