Heather Laws Cast as Kathie Lee Gifford in NYMF Musical

Heather Laws will play Kathie Lee Gifford in the forthcoming New York Music Theatre Festival production of She Can't Believe She Said That!, a satiric new musical based on the life and career of talk-show icon Kathie Lee Gifford. Written by Matt Prager, the show opens at TBG Theatre on September 26 for six performances, directed by Josh Hecht.

Joining Laws are Brian Gallagher as Kathie Lee's first husband, Paul; Charles Karel as Regis Philbin; Jan Pessano as Anita Bryant; Rob Sheridan as Frank Gifford; Paul Anthony Stewart as Larry Gatlin; Tia Zorne Beauty and the Beast as the Therapist, and Laura Beth Wells. Also in the ensemble are Daryl Getman, Dustienne Miller, and Patrick O'Neill.

She Can't Believe She Said That! covers a 30-year time span, using the story of someone often accused of being fake in order to examine the mechanisms by which we define our identities. The press announcement describes the show as "a cheesy Evita, a Velvevitaif you will."

Laws was most recently seen as Amy in the Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning revival of Company. She has also appeared on Broadway in The Boy From Oz and Cabaret.

The creative team consists of Raquel Davis Lights, Tei Blow Sound and Robin Vest Scenic, with music direction by Howard Levitsky and orchestrations by Frank Perri.
