Due to popular demand, Playwrights Horizons will extend its world premiere production of Nicky Silver's Three Changes, which is currently in previews and scheduled to open on September 16. Originally set to play a limited engagement through September 28, the production will now play through October 3 at the off-Broadway company's Mainstage Theater. Two Wednesday matinees will also be added, on September 10 and September 24.
Beginning September 30, Obie Award winner Tim Hopper More Stately Mansions, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Dying Gaul, Present Laughter will replace Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott, who cannot play the extension due to prior commitments. In addition to McDermott, the cast includes Emmy Award nominee Maura Tierney, Scott Cohen, Aya Cash and Brian J. Smith. Wilson Milam is the director.
In Three Changes Nate McDermott and Laurel Tierney are a comfortably married, Upper West Side couple—until Nate's wayward brother Hal Cohen arrives from Hollywood. What at first seems a casual visit, a chance to reconnect, is quickly revealed as something more ominous. Hal may have had success, but human connection is all that matters, and he intends to make connections, no matter who pays the price. Three Changes is described as a darkly funny and suspenseful look at the joy of family, and how far we'll go to get it.
