Death Becomes Her was captivating and funny!7
"The show was spectacular, and exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The theater was able to change our seats based on a physical limitation which was wonderful for my companion on his first time to a show on Broadway!"

Not Your Mother's Movie
"Well staged. The costumes and dance routines were terrific. The dialogue asides were witty though often I felt behind.
I enjoyed it very much but it was decidedly more R rated than PG-13. At some points I felt it was unnecessarily crude. "

Flashy, Funny, Fun. CAMP!
"Super campy, with a big beautiful Broadway budget. The whole theater was laughing from the slapstick and stinging quips. This is the ultimate campy Broadway musical. See this if you're into super impressive costumes, choreo, sets, and singing.
However, the music is definitely the weak point. The songs are very well performed, but are mostly unmemorable in terms of lyrics and orchestration. I think only two songs are going to make it into my playlist. Additionally, I think the book could have used a little work. No, you don't need to watch the movie before; I went in blind and understood everything.
You're going to have a good time. You're going to get a bang for your buck. This show is definitely worth seeing, but you don't have to put it at the top of your list."

Great Matinee Show
"Saw the matinee show with 3 other women. We all enjoyed it. The actors did a wonderful job with the big vocal numbers as well as great choreography and stunt performances. It was witty and the costumes were eye-catching. "

A fun entertaining show
"If you need a good laugh, buy tickets right now. Megan Hilty is perfect! The sets are amazing. The stunt doubles did things I didn’t know were physically possible. The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars is that some of the humor was too vulgar for my taste and I would certainly not recommend it for children. But adults will love it. "

A good time
"The show was funny - great comedic timing. Michelle Williams was excellent and sounded wonderful. My group didn't love the singing. Sometimes the words weren't always articulated. But because the characters were over the top - I am assuming it was because they were fitting their characters. The special effects were fun. There are sexual jokes - but I didn't find it too sexy for my 13 year old - but it was on the line. All in all we had a great time and would tell people to see it. "

Good but not quite great.
"Let me first start with the fact that the show was very entertaining. I do not have regrets for having seen it. The acting, singing and dancing were all great and the choreography used the stage effectively to create a spectacle and the show was laced with excellent humorous moments. The reason I called it good but not great is that none of the music really felt big or memorable. The songs were forgettable almost as soon as they were over. "

3 Stars - But worth seeing
"Great talent despite Megan’s unexpected absence. Her understudy (Debbie?) was very good and was spitting image of Meryl Streep’s Madeline in the movie. Jennifer was my favorite - she played a great Helen - and of course Stefan was fantastic.
If you loved the movie you’ll appreciate the show. Not quite 5 stars for me though. A bit campy and jokes sometimes forced - but considering the subject matter it’s acceptable. Not really appropriate for children imo. Give it a try and see for yourself! "

Underwhelmed
"I loved this movie as a child and was excited to see it after all the emails I was receiving from broadway.com. However I was very disappointed overall. Michelle Williams was fun to see live. One of the best scenes was Ernest drinking too much. I’m glad I didn’t spend the money for orchestra seats. This is the first New York show I’ve seen that I haven’t left raving about. "

Should have ratings on content of shows
"I gave two stars for acting and singing/dancing. I thought that was great but the vulgar language and constant outright sexual connotations were not necessary and took away from what could have been a great show. We left at intermission and it would have been a lot sooner if it weren’t for us being in the middle of an isle and not disrupting others. In short it was a perfectly good comedic story that was very sexualized. "

About
Death Becomes Her
Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies…until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret that’s to die for.
After one sip of Viola’s magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored…and a grudge to last eternity.
Now a warning! You may not be ready for the unbelievable amount of comedy, glamour, and magic onstage at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Death Becomes Her is a “wildly entertaining, perfect musical comedy. It grabs the audience by the jugular and doesn’t let go” (Deadline). With direction and choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, Death Becomes Her is “a laugh-filled, tuneful musical to die for” (Variety) and “a cheek-aching laughter roller coaster — the most fun night out on Broadway!” (The Daily Beast). Experience the “savagely funny” (Time Out) pop-culture phenomenon that’s been certified “hilarious” by The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Z100, Beyoncé (!!), Goldie Hawn, Superman aka David Corenswet, Michelle Williams (the other one), and countless fans on Instagram, TikTok, and beyond. See it now, and laugh for eternity.
