3 Stars - But worth seeing
"Great talent despite Megan’s unexpected absence. Her understudy (Debbie?) was very good and was spitting image of Meryl Streep’s Madeline in the movie. Jennifer was my favorite - she played a great Helen - and of course Stefan was fantastic.
If you loved the movie you’ll appreciate the show. Not quite 5 stars for me though. A bit campy and jokes sometimes forced - but considering the subject matter it’s acceptable. Not really appropriate for children imo. Give it a try and see for yourself! "

Should have ratings on content of shows
"I gave two stars for acting and singing/dancing. I thought that was great but the vulgar language and constant outright sexual connotations were not necessary and took away from what could have been a great show. We left at intermission and it would have been a lot sooner if it weren’t for us being in the middle of an isle and not disrupting others. Cool show, bad story
"Death Becomes Her is not for me. I come to theaters for clever set design and engaging story telling, neither of those did the show do good at. The premise of the story was rather confusing and sometimes inconsistent. The plot felt uncomfortably forced and the humor reminded me more of a soap opera than a Broadway musical. The set design was a hoard of advanced props and set pieces piled together; the budget made them look fantastic, sure, but I expected more thought put into the art that is set design than this from Broadway.
My biggest complaint is how flat every single character was. The show did not try the slightest to convince me that these characters could have existed outside of the story. Almost every character can be described in their entirety in a single sentence, and their values either remained unchanged throughout the plot or acutely changed without any proper character arc. And, for certain characters, asking what their motivations are only brings more questions that the show displayed no intent to answer.
That said, the show did have spectacular choreography and practical effects. If these are what you're looking for in a Broadway show, then go ahead and give it a try. Otherwise, I really cannot recommend this to anyone who cares about the story or just the more common theatrical components of a show."

"This show was mildly entertaining. There are no big singers, there will be no goose bumps from an unbelievable voice. Fair performance by fair actors. Good story but needless vulgarity and sexual content. This show is not appropriate for children of any age. It said ages 12 and over, unless your kids are already telling dirty jokes, being sexually vulgar and down right dirty do not take them to see this show. "This was the most disagreeable show I've ever seen. Every character was self-absorbed, vain and just plain mean. I didn't care what happened to any of them. Music was completely forgettable and LOUD just for volume's sake. The leads all shouted their songs...unmusical, even with a poor score. They might have talent, but I'll never know. We left at intermission. I have never left a show in the middle, and I've been attending theater for 50+ years. What a waste of money."
