Great story and wonderful performers!
"We loved everything about it! I was pretty skeptical, but our daughter picked it because of the lead actor, and we all ended up really loving the story, music, and the performances. "

Beautiful and Heartbreaking
"Let’s start with singing. So moving, so heart rending. Though the story is filled with danger, courage and love, it feels like a thriller. You will fall in love with Floyd and hope he is with his Mama"

Not fit everyone but it was for me
"I can see how people wouldn’t enjoy this show as it has a minimal set and uses lightning and miming techniques to show what is happening. The music goes from bluegrass to a more class Broadway type but it is beautiful and worth your time! "

Floyd Collins
"Floyd Collins is a musical to which many theatregoers haven't been exposed. This revival receives a grand production at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Jeremy Jordan masterfully conveys Floyd's seemingly endless optimism and spunk. Last season, he dazzled as the emotional Jay Gatsby; this year, he embodies hardy, ambitious Kentucky cave explorer Floyd Collins. Jordan maneuvers himself through an invisible, but clearly convoluted, twist of a tunnel, searching for a cavern to turn into a tourist attraction. But the most amazing physical feat Jordan accomplishes is staying still. "Trapped," Jordan remains on stage as the media circus unfolds around him. One would think that being motionless would hinder Jordan's performance; instead, it demonstrates what a stellar performer he is. We suffer with Floyd. And we morally suffer with his family who struggles to save him while also profitting off his misfortune. And we ache for slim Skeets and engineer Carmichael to save Floyd. The stage mostly remains empty with the exception of rugged flooring and gorgeous, colorful backdrops of the changing sky. (Makes you wonder why Floyd would rather be underground.) The only drawback, I feel is the gigantic stage. I think we lose some sense of just how tight and winding Floyd's route was (in some places only 9 inches wide). Perhaps a projection of his path on the stage wall would have helped. Nevertheless, this is a production worth seeing. Can we please give Jeremy Jordan the Tony he rightfully deserves?!"

About Floyd Collins

Floyd Collins is a gripping and powerful musical based on the true story of a cave explorer in Kentucky, 1925. While chasing a dream of fame and fortune by turning Sand Cave into a tourist attraction, Floyd Collins himself becomes the attraction when he gets trapped 200 feet underground. Alone but for sporadic contact with the outside world, including his brother Homer, Floyd fights for his sanity – and, ultimately, his life – as the rescue effort above explodes into the first genuine media circus. Reporters and gawkers from across the country descend on the property, fueling the hysteria and manipulating the nation into holding its collective breath.
