Amazing!
"Moving, I felt for each character. I wondered what would happen to each of them after the last scene. This speaks to how well the cast pulled me into the world of August Wilson. "

Wonderful anniversary outing. Highly recommend. Great online tickets!
"We attended Joe Turner’s Come and Gone for our wedding anniversary, and it was a truly memorable experience. The seats were excellent—comfortable, with a perfect view and great sound making it easy to fully engage with the performance. The play itself was powerful and captivating, and it was especially exciting to see the cast settling into their roles during the preview period. Even during an unexpected moment when an audience member became ill, the situation was handled with calm and care. A fellow attendee stepped in to assist, the audience quickly settled, and the performers continued seamlessly—showing true professionalism. The theater staff were friendly and helpful, and the customer service team was also very supportive when I initially had an issue purchasing tickets online. Overall, it was a wonderful anniversary outing. Highly recommend. And would purchased tickets from Broadway.com again. "

A right now message!
"Every character was featured in this production. There was not one character that outperformed another. They had great chemistry and the story was relevant. "

Made me feel the struggle
"I liked the storyline, the cast of actors and the characters they played. Back then to finally be free from slavery and have hateful, mean-spirited people like a Joe Turner still want to carry it on still continues to this day. The irony of it to me! I was expecting understudy’s to perform and was surprised and pleased to see Taraji and Cedric on stage! Equally surprised and excited to see Debbie Allen seated in the audience! Theatre is small so stage is visible from all angles. Only bad thing is bathrooms are all the way downstairs "

An Outstanding Emotional Rollercoaster
"I had no idea what Joe Turner’s Come and Gone was about before seeing it, but I love all things August Wilson. His stories speak across generations, capturing the depth of African American relationships, heartaches, triumphs, and unwavering faith in God. This play did not disappoint. Debbie Allen’s direction was outstanding, and she truly brought out the absolute best in Cedric the Entertainer, Taraji P. Henson, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and the entire phenomenal cast. For two and a half hours, I was completely transported back to the early 1900s in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This play is a must-see. #Enjoy"

A must see!
"Make sure this play is amongst your choices on your next trip to New York City. Debbie Allen did a fantastic job of directing and all of the stars did an outstanding job. It is a revival so the subject matter may be beyond the scope of some young audiences. But overall, it was a tremendous effort on everyone’s part to bring back a great August Wilson play."

Absolute Perfection at the Barrymore
"August Wilsons' production is a masterpiece! It starts slow and mysterious with a few laughs, but it builds and builds. It pulls you in as it continues. The cast of actors were amazing and really leaned into their skills; even the kids. The main cast was there and no understudies were needed. I also enjoyed the wonderful intimacy of the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. It was the perfect location."

Totally Engaging
"The story kept us engaged and amused at all times. The "who" and "why" was the most exciting part of the play for us. Our seats were in the second level of the theater and we struggled to hear a couple of the main characters speaking. That was the only downside. Overall I would definitely recommend this play. "

Very Deep
"If you were unaware and just went to see the two stars, this play may be hard to follow initially. It builds and you get a greater appreciation of the storyline. Very deep content and I enjoyed what was coming across. We have so much work still yet to do. August Wilson and Debbie Allen did a great job in explaining that! My first Broadway play...Superb! "

About Joe Turner's Come and Gone

Set in 1911, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone unfolds in a Pittsburgh boarding house run by the steadfast Seth and warm-hearted Bertha Holly. Their home offers refuge to Black travelers navigating the upheaval of the Great Migration. Among them is Herald Loomis, a man on a quest to reunite with his lost wife—and to reclaim the self he was forced to abandon during seven years of forced labor under Joe Turner.

As buried traumas surface and spiritual forces awaken, Loomis’s journey becomes one of profound self-discovery. Around him, others seek connection, direction, and healing from a past marked by pain. Through poetic dialogue and vivid, deeply human characters, Wilson crafts a powerful meditation on identity, resilience, and renewal.
