""Oh Mary" is one of the funniest shows playing on Broadway now. I laughed from the beginning of the show to the end.
Cole Escola is Magnificent. Profane, vulgar, naughty, and silly. What a Performance! I am still chuckling!
I am here from California for 12 days seeing 14 Broadway Shows. Oh Mary ranks at the top! Thank you, Cole and Sam!!!"

Cole Escola dares to shed new light on Mary Todd's secret desires
"The curtain rises on what could very likely be described as a simple, community theatre style set, and then the first words are blasted out, and we are at once hurled into the hilarious, twisted, delightfully unapologetic world of Cole Escola's reimagining of Mary Todd Lincoln's secret desires. All of the performances were superb, with enough anarchy and high energy antics to keep the audience in stitches. But it was Cole's Mary Todd Lincoln that anchored the cast as they all revolved around her irreverent one-liners and unexpected absurdities. Cole's performance was, in a word, inspired lunacy, with exquisite comic timing and well executed physical gyrations that kept the audience continuously laughing. This play was also a great example of tight ensemble acting, with everyone rising to the heights of their own personal degradations. The fact that this little gem is on Broadway is in itself a welcome surprise, and is one show that should not be missed. It has been far too long since an out and out comedy has reigned supreme. Long live Oh, Mary!

Who knew campy and depressive could work so well?
"This was fun, funny, fast-paced, witty (with a bit of naughty) and lends a new view into this time in history that maybe no one ever knew! Of course, a few liberties might have been taken with recorded history, but nonetheless, a good fun take on the time!"

An historical moment
"I have been wanting to watch this show since even before it came out on broad way as many of my fave comedians raved about it. To simply say it’s the funniest piece of art I’ve seen is simply not enough and does not do it justice. It over exceeded my expectations by a million. I bow to Cole Escola and co. I can’t believe after June 28th Oh Mary will just be a part of broadway history. When there is still time GO WATCH OH MARY!!!"

Tighter than a 19th century first lady
"The witty report is second to none. The show is silly, irreverent, bawdy, and hilarious. If you have prudish tendencies, cannot be in the same room with your children while characters are going to second base on a TV show, or self-identify as a Jane Appleton Pierce fan, please stay away. Otherwise, you have to see it!"

The tears were unexpected
"It took me a minute to get the style of the show, and then I was fully along for the ride. It is hilarious, but I was pulled in on a human, caring way so much and so unexpectedly that my tears during the final scene were spontaneous and ultimately unavoidable. Funny, yes, but what a deep and heartfelt show."

"The dark side of this comedy is not to be believed until you are watching it. I was caught entirely off guard, in spite of the fact that I knew the lead and play write is them, not him. Audacious play that hits you with purposeful miscues throughout. The acting is great and I laughed and cheered with the audience all night."

"I have seen the show twice - Cole and Tituss. Simply side splitting and packed with gut laughs. The first time I saw it, I was just trying to not miss too much due to laughter. The second time I saw it, I realized how clever and well written it was. The two different performers brought something different to it but the one thing they had in common was absurd cartoon like hilarity. Cannot recommend enough!"

Fun Broadway experience
"We had the opportunity to see Oh Mary with Titus Burris, which if it isn’t Cole in the lead role, this is the next best option. His run is coming to an end, but would recommend this whoever is in the staring role. Not for children, and is 80 minutes long. Which was actually the perfect amount of time. "

About
Oh, Mary!
Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).
Declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times, Oh, Mary! received Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play (Cole Escola) and Best Direction of a Play (Sam Pinkleton), Drama League Awards for Outstanding Play and Outstanding Direction of a Play, as well as a special citation from the New York Drama Critics’ Circle. It was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
