Power differentials, complicity, and responsibility
"The play was completing engaging from the very first moment with superb acting and easy to follow dialogue. Ella Beatty was expressive and appropriately awkward even in her long moments of silence and Hugh Jackman charmed the audience into believing he was speaking to each of us directly. I appreciated Hannah Moskovitch's nuanced treatment of this sensitive subject, first through the lens of Jon and later giving voice to Annie's perspective as she matures. The ending is surprising and very satisfying. Ultimately, even if the student initiates and consents, responsibility rests with the professor. "

Up close
"The fact that the stars are so down to earth in combination with their talent I was in total awe the whole time. I was transported to the story and lived it thru their amazing talent. She is sort of new to acting and I simply saw a great actress. Hugh is simply just pure talent in his habitat, so so so natural and he makes it look super easy. Take advantage of this up close - intimate performance of two great actors. Thank you to the stars for allowing us to enjoy their talent. "

Bracingly Real
"Engaging performances are only part of the reason this play is terrific…the writing is great & the story SO realistic. I felt like I was viewing people I know “act out,” giving in to their (certainly real, human) emotions while simultaneously observing themselves get into a highly sticky situation, one with potential for all kinds of bad consequences. And watching Jackman alternate between being a perpetrator & then observer who breaks the fourth wall was clever & riveting."
