Sadness Left Behind, John Gallagher Jr. Says Goodbye to Spring Awakening

He don't do sadness no more. Portraying the emotionally wracked Moritz in Spring Awakening, John Gallagher Jr., whose raw, kinetic energy, heartbreaking honesty and gel-freaked hair provided one of the most dazzling breakout performances of recent seasons—winning a 2007 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical in the process—gave his final performance in the Duncan Sheik-Steven Sater musical at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Sunday, December 16. Lost TV regular Blake Bashoff assumes the role beginning this week, marking his Broadway debut. As a way of saying so long to John, we stopped by and grabbed a few pics for the scrapbook.
