The Artist in me loved it!
"The costumes and props were soooooo creative. A few parts were "scary" and a child near us did not want to come back after intermission. Know what your child can handle. 8 and up, no problem I would think."

Highly Anticipated…didn’t disappoint
"Loved that they had some original elements while honoring the integrity of the original story. Vocalists, orchestra and effects were all amazing!!! The only thing I found myself experiencing dissonance around was the scale of the show- I expected a much larger number of animals in the opening and closing scenes around Pride Rock. Since it’s been upwards of 25+ years since the musical’s opening, I’m not sure if the show supported a larger cast in the earlier part of its run or not. Though, I wonder if this was so. Also, am curious about whether its home was always the Minskoff; wondering if there was a larger stage that housed the show in the portion of the earlier run. Altogether, definitely highly recommend!!! It was beautiful and it’s very clear the actors and everyone involved highly respect their own craft and work hard to deliver a version of the show that truly works to lift up the experience of the audience!! Thank you to the cast, crew and Minskoff Theater!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏽🤌🏽👏🏽🙏🏽🤩🤩🥳🥳"

Nice, family show
"The singing, choreography, and creative way the story is presented is outstanding. There is no graphic violence, sex, or cursing. However there are scenes where the props used are worn and outdated. The baby lion is a doll with no eyes. The stampede scene is a drum roll of paper with printed designs that are continuously moving around in a circle. For $200. a seat I expected better. Having the characters come out into the audience is a spark of brilliance. Could there be more interactive elements included in the story such as movements of the seats, confetti sprinkled on audience or an explosion of paper fireworks that spill out into the audience? Just asking…. Janet Rivera"

Great interaction
"I loved how the actors interacted with the audience. The martial art moves were disappointing. The music was great"

Third time I’ve seen it
"I’ve seen this twice in the UK on tour before going to broadway. The show itself is great but was ruined by audience members next to us and around us talking through it that the stewards did nothing about. Highly disrespectful. "

Great for kids, okay for adults
"The Lion King is a Broadway classic and it is an incredible show, but I do feel like it’s more “cute” than a wow factor. I think it’s a perfect show to go to with kids, but going as a pair of adults, it wasn’t as captivating as other shows. I’m glad I saw it, and the performers were incredible, but I don’t think I would do it again if I could go back."

Disappointed
"Impressive use of attached characters. No set decor. Singing ok. Not enough talented dancing. I was bored but children probably like it"

Not my cup of tea
"I thought the story line was basic. Although the singers were excellent the music and lyrics were not to my taste. The costumes and dancing were excellent."

Mixed review
"Amazing singing and the animals at the start and end of the show are breathtaking. However, for the high price we paid for tickets, the set was lazy and underwhelming; hanging cloths, looked like paper grass and a cardboard tree. Reminded me of a high school show. Not Broadway calibre. But the cast was great and the opening and closing were amazing. "

Hard to understand
"Beautiful choreography and costumes. It was hard to understand the song lyrics and speaking by most of the cast. Heavy accents and overplaying of the African heritage made it practically impossible to understand most of the speaking parts"

Lion king
"The show was great. Really enjoyed, actors did an amazing job performing. But the venue wasn’t. Seats very uncomfortable and so close together. Sitting for two hours were a torture which doesn’t do any justice for the show."

Perfect with kids
"Loved the African beats and choir, some beautiful moments… Maybe a little more catered towards children with Jokes that are very Disney like. "

Loud and louder
"Of course, the puppets, staging, and costuming were fantastic. But the sound was so loud my granddaughter and I both had headaches. I had to plug my ears. Therefore, the tender moments were still overbearing. Too much money for the experience. "

A tad disappointed
"I loved the singing, The dance routine was the same movements over and over and the dancer could be tighter for the number of times performing the routine The show got a bit boring midway so it didn’t capture my attention throughout The costumes needed to be more vibrant with gold showcasing the richness of the continent Too many of songs were in another language so it was difficult to really immerse yourself in the show Needed more drums in the songs, an African drum has the ability to connect to the soul when done correctly "

Lip... Sync...
"Beautiful production, great music overall, but I was disappointed that parts of it were lip synced. We all pay lots of money to get to and stay in NYC, time off from work/life etc for a Broadway show, for the Broadway experience... A lip synced show is unexpected, and again, disappointing. The silver lining for me personally is that I'll do my research next time, and be more circumspect about my next Broadway show. It's an expensive lesson, but a valuable one. "

Overrated
"We were so excited and looking forward to seeing the show, but the singing was off, there were weird noises coming from the sound system that ruined part of the performance, and overall it felt like, at best, a high school production. "
