"Exhilarating, wonderfully produced, a stellar cast and amazing set design - what’s not to love? This is what musical theatre is all about. There is a very apparent thread of humanity and wanting to belong - it will make you teary eyed. "

Brilliant
"Every actor, every moment, every set piece, every gesture was so brilliantly thought through. There is not a single thing from anyone on stage that is not conveying some emotional truth of the story. My sister told me I'd love the set design, but it was so good it took my breath away. And the lighting? Truly an emotion driven development. "

"Was very impressed with the physicality of the actors. Sax music did not sync well with sax man in tempo or volume. LUV the dropping into HellFire scene. Thank You for the plot twist at the end!!!"

Thrillingly surprised!
"I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to 80s movies, so I was a little worried the show wouldn’t live up to my standards. But WOW!!!
The technical aspects BLEW ME AWAY! The plot stayed true (with minor changes), and the acting and singing were great! My teen daughters have never seen the movie and it’s their new favorite musical. We saw it two days before the Tony’s and were shocked that it didn’t win best musical- it should have!

So much fun!
"We loved the staging and the actor who played David. It was a really fun night. I would recommend investing in floor or mezzanine seats if you can. You can see the crew working below the floor if you’re in the balcony. Didn’t ultimately take away from the experience but just a tip!"

A ton of fun and visually stunning
" I couldn’t imagine how they were going to successfully turn a vampire movie from the 80’s into a musical, but they did and exceeded all of my expectations. The cast was perfect and the actor who plays David deserves all the recognition he’s getting for finding a way to portray the necessary charisma all the way to the mezzanine level and beyond.
Another point of awe comes from the lack of screens and instead, the use of practical effects. The set was almost like another central character to the show. I wish I lived closer and could take everyone I know so they too could have a heck of time. Oh! And that final scene after the bows—well done!

Adapting a Cult Classic to the Question of Young Men in Distress
"I saw "The Lost Boys" 19 times when the movie first came out, so I went into the Broadway musical with both deep affection and very high expectations. Somehow, the musical exceeded them. What impressed me most was that it did not simply recreate a beloved cult classic on stage; it expanded it. The production uses the familiar story as a powerful platform to explore the challenges young men face today as they try to understand who they are, who they are allowed to become, and how easily they can be pulled toward dangerous or toxically masculine role models. The show gives the material a bigger emotional and cultural theme, one that speaks to male identity in both gay and straight contexts, without losing the rebellious energy that made the original film so iconic. The music and staging are explosive, visually thrilling, and emotionally charged — at times reaching the scale and intensity of *Wicked*. For me, this was not just a great adaptation; it was a richer, more meaningful version of a story I have loved for decades.

About
The Lost Boys, A New Musical
Get ready for the ride of your life with The Lost Boys, the most Tony Award®-winning new musical of the year. It’s a “thrilling, blockbuster event” (People), “a breathtaking adventure unlike any musical seen before” (New York Post), and “the best new musical of the season” (The Washington Post).
When Michael moves to California with his younger brother Sam and their mother Lucy, he’s desperate to leave his old life behind and start fresh. A wild night out on the boardwalk finds him in the shadows of Santa Carla and brings him face-to-face with David, the magnetic leader of a local rock band. David and his bandmates offer Michael freedom, adventure, and the connection he’s been longing to find. But when the band’s dark secret finally comes out, Michael must decide how far he’s willing to go to belong.
Based on the classic Warner Bros. film, The Lost Boys is “a jaw-dropping, rock-fueled must-see” (Cosmopolitan) featuring Tony-winning performances from Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui. Directed by three-time Tony winner Michael Arden (Maybe Happy Ending, Parade), the production features Tony-nominated music and lyrics by The Rescues, a book by Tony nominees David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, choreography by Tony nominees Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant (Parade), and music supervision by Tony nominee Ethan Popp (Tina). The Lost Boys is produced by James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Patrick Wilson.
