The Best Show About Nothing… and Somehow Everything
"A brilliantly absurd evening where two men wait, complain, banter, and wait some more — proving that the journey to nowhere can be unexpectedly hilarious, strangely profound, and sneakily emotional. If you’ve ever felt stuck in life, this play will make you laugh at the absurdity of your own timeline. A balance of silliness and soul-searching. The dialogue snaps, the humor lands, and the emptiness somehow feels full. Perfect for anyone who loves their theatre with a side of philosophy. A charmingly chaotic ride through banter, boredom, and big questions. The humor is dry, the pacing intentional, and the payoff is the realization that the show is less about Godot and more about us."

Maybe read the play first to know what you are getting in to.
"I loved the energy of the show, and the set design. I think it would be helpful for those who never read the play to do some research to know what to expect. This play can get deep. But that’s what makes it so good!"

Fresh minimalistic restaging
"I thought that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters long standing chemistry worked to convey the comedy in the absurdist themes, with a very strong supporting cast. I liked the minimalist staging without props while i know others found it distracting. I was pleased to see this work introduced to a new generation."

Emotions Full Circle!
"Brilliantly directed and performed! We see the fragility and complexity of the human condition; what divides us, what connects us, what breaks us, what heals us, and what gives us hope. Every emotion in two short hours. Extraordinary!"

An excellent adventure
"How wonderful it was to see Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter together again. They bring occasional humor to a show making you wonder what are any of us doing here. Brandon Dirden's energetic performance brings liveliness to a somber an rhythmic performance. Michael Thornton delivers a surprisingly intense monologue that is stirring. Eric Williams was amazing, shy and bashful while communicating tons of emotion. I cant wait to see what he does next! I truly enjoyed this show, leave the kiddos at home, take yourself out and spend 2 hours Waiting for Godot. "

Beckett’s masterpiece skillfully adventured
"First of all, 40 years ago on the center court of Maryland prison gym. I myself starred in Godot. I personally know how skillfully Sam’s words need to be handled. I’m here to tell you, between the unique ‘Time tunnel’ setting to the masterful performances of Messer's. Reeve, Winter and their associates was most satisfying. Particularly, Pozo and Lucky what a great take on those roles. I was so pleased to hear a raucous response from the audience at the Hudson. Really proving what I always felt when I portrayed Estragon in front of our audiences. It is just a study in what we do when we wait and why. The who is the question? Or is it? Find out for yourself, you’ll be thinking about it days later. That’s a Night (or afternoon) at Waiting for Godot "

Dark and funny
"The absurd and hilariously dark Waiting for Godot, about the predicament of man, is now showing at the Hudson Theatre on Broadway. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter leave us laughing on the edge of the abyss. The rest of the cast is brilliant too."

What is this play about?
"This play made you think. What is it about, if anything. Actors were terrific. Staging seemed a bit odd. Highly recommend to go see it. Tickets may be expensive due to the star power of the two lead actors."

Incredibly talented cast in moving performances
"Phenomenal acting by all cast members. Stunning set design. I am a longtime WFG fan and loved this modern interpretation. The real-life friendship between Alex and Keanu shined through and enhanced the production. Thank you for the fun surprise nod to Bill and Ted during the show."

Their Adventure grows up
"These guys as real-life friends, their chemistry hasn't changed much from their younger selves, but their experiences have brought them to deep conversation - in this, some may say about nothing, and maybe that's the existential point. Their connection is astounding in delivery of their rambling dialog - similar to circular conversations we have in our own heads, but spoken out loud (that's my 25-words or less POV). So many favorite relatable lines! For me it’s like complex superficiality, or shallow depth - in other words, the irony and juxtapositions of being human, and what we think is critically important. It shouldn't take much to remember, Earth spins without our help, and the universe is bigger than us! But we in fact do seem to sometimes forget. Al assisted with this jolly description: The point of "Waiting for Godot" is to explore the absurdity of existence, the human condition of perpetually seeking meaning and purpose in a seemingly meaningless world, and the futility of waiting for external forces to provide that meaning. The play illustrates how people can become stuck in meaningless cycles, much like the characters Vladimir (Didi) and Estragon (Gogo), emphasizing a sense of existential dread, hopelessness, and the desire for connection and significance in a chaotic world... A philosophical jaunt that leaves you pondering. I LOVED IT!"

Waiting for Godot
"Amazing performance. The time passed so quickly and I was absorbed through the entire show. A brief bit of levity in the second half (A Wyld Stallion reference) was unexpected, a leap of faith on the part of the performers, and well timed added to the show rather than detracting. The show was well worth it. "

Notable Performance
"A play about nothing and everything. Pathos, humor and drama are in abundance as the protagonists wait for the never present Godot. A contemplation on Life, Death, and Friendship. Alex Winter's performance particularly stood out in an OUTSTANDING cast. The wait for a classic Broadway experience is over. Go see WAITING FOR GODOT."

Star Duo Perfectly Suited to Roost/Wait on Broadway
"The set design or “eyeball” “inner eye” brings us into Vladimir’s psyche. Alex and Keanu do a great job working within a spoken rhythm while using the “eye” to showcase the fruitless physicality of their waiting. Keanu Reeves was right to select this play for them. Alex Winter had to carry all the emotional ups and downs. He did a great job helping us feel the toil of his befuddled state. Estragon is a more airy and mercurial creature; Reeves makes him lovable. Dirden and Thornton are very strong players and cut the audience to the bone. The pre-show music was excellent; I would buy it! "

About Waiting For Godot

Directed by Olivier Award-winning and Tony®-nominated visionary Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Blvd., A Doll’s House, Betrayal), this exhilarating, hilarious, and deeply human new production of Samuel Beckett’s self-proclaimed “tragicomedy” asks all of life’s big questions—and answers none of them. It’s ridiculous! Life, and this play. But the wait is worth the wait.
