Peter Davison and Jill Halfpenny will join the previously announced Sheridan Smith, Duncan James, Alex Gaumond, Aoife Mulholland and Susan McFadden in Legally Blonde, directed by Jerry Mitchell. The musical begins previews at the Savoy Theatre on December 5. Davison joins the cast as Callahan, Elle Woods' ruthless Harvard professor, while Halfpenny will appear as beautician Paulette.
Davison is best known for his run as the Doctor in Doctor Who from 1981 to 1984. He has appeared on stage in Spamalot, Chicago, An Absolute Turkey and Arsenic and Old Lace. His long television resume includes All Creatures Great and Small, The Last Detective, At Home with the Braithwaites, A Quick Guide to Parenting, A Very Peculiar Practice, Ain't Misbehaving and Fear Stress and Anger. Film credits include Parting Shots, Black Beauty and Molly.
Halfpenny's stage credits include Uncle Vanya, The Bodies and Chicago. She is well known for her role as Kate Mitchell on the hit series EastEnders. In 2004, she won the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing, going on to earn two more wins during Christmas 2004 and 2008. Additional television credits include Dalziel and Pascoe, Coronation Street, Peak Practice, Heartbeat, Birds of a Feather, Shameless and The Catherine Tate Show. She is currently appearing on the West End in Calendar Girls.
