The unusual trio of Christina Aguilera, Cher and Stanley Tucci will star a feature film musical titled Burlesque, according to Variety. Written and directed by Steve Antin (with a script revision by Susannah Grant), the movie will begin production on November 9 for a Thanksgiving 2010 release. In addition, Twilight hunk Cam Gigandet reportedly told MTV that he will play Aguilera’s love interest in the film.
Aguilera will make her big-screen acting debut as an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds success in a neo-burlesque Sunset Boulevard club reminiscent of Cabaret’s Kit Kat Klub. Tucci will play the club manager and best friend and confidante of Tess (Cher), a former dancer who takes Aguilera under her wing.
No word on whether Burlesque will feature an original score or existing songs.
