Complete casting has been announced for the world premiere of Frank Wildhorn and Don Black's musical Bonnie & Clyde. The new musical, directed by Jeff Calhoun and with a book by Ivan Menchell, will debut at La Jolla Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre beginning November 10 and playing through December 20.
Joining previously announced stars Stark Sands (Clyde), Laura Osnes (Bonnie), Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham (Bonnie's mother, Emma), Melissa van der Schyff (Blanche) and Chris Pelusa (Deputy Ted Hinton), are Wayne Duvall (Sherriff), Claybourne Elder (Buck), Leslie Becker, Daniel Cooney, Michael Lanning,Courtney Corey, Michael Covert, Victor Hernandez, Michael Mulligan, Carly Nykanen, Mike Sears and Jessica Watkins.
Based loosely on the real-life story of Depression-era criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, the musical follows the couple as their love affair spirals out of control during a series of bank robberies. As the duo’s notoriety rises, the ill-fated lovers find themselves racing to the top of the public enemies list.
The creative team includes John McDaniel (music director), Tobin Ost (scenic and costume design), Michael Gilliam (lighting designer), Brian Ronan (sound designer) and Aaron Rhyne (projection designer).
