Although he made his official Broadway debut by contributing songs to the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (launching Kristin Chenoweth as an overnight star with his "My New Philosophy"), The Addams Family marks composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa's first complete score on the Great White Way. The popular musical theater talent (who also wrote the well-loved off-Broadway musicals john & jen and The Wild Party ) was up for the many challenges that came along with the project, starting with the fact that audiences everywhere already associate the titular family with a song: the bopping-and-snapping theme from their hit sitcom. Broadway.com invited Lippa to share the backstories behind many of the show's catchy songs, including "Pulled," "Morticia," "Just Around the Corner" and "The Moon and Me." Lucky for us (and you!), the interview turned into a private concert, as Lippa is just as engaging a song-and-dance man as a composer. Sit back and enjoy!
