Jonathan Groff, a Tony Award nominee for Spring Awakening and cast member on the new season of Glee, will perform two solo shows at Joe’s Pub on June 20 at 7PM and 9:30PM.
Groff’s stint on Glee begins with the April 13 premiere, where he will play Jesse St. James, the lead singer of Vocal Adrenaline, the McKinley High School glee club’s rival. Broadway veteran Idina Menzel will also be featured in the episode. Prior to headlining Spring Awakening, Groff made his Broadway debut with the short-lived musical In My Life. He has also appeared in the Shakespeare in the Park productions of Hair and The Bacchae, the off-Broadway plays The Singing Forest and A Prayer for My Enemy and the Ang Lee film Taking Woodstock.
Groff will be accompanied by Wayne Krantz (guitar), Craig Taborn (piano), Eivind Opsvik (bass), Jonathon Haffner (alto sax), Ben Perowsky (drums) and Kenny Wollesen (drums).
