Rising screen actor Justin Long (He’s Just Not That Into You) and Broadway and TV vet Margaret Colin (Gossip Girl) will headline upcoming productions at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts. Long has been cast in the world premiere of Mat Smart’s Samuel J. and K. on the Nikos Stage (July 7-18), directed by Justin Waldman. Colin will play Ouisa in John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation on the Main Stage (July 14-25), directed by Anne Kauffman.
Long will be joined by Owiso Odera in Samuel J. and K. Described as a hard-charging play that challenges the traditional definitions of family, the piece centers on Samuel J. (Long) who surprises his adopted brother, Samuel K. (Odera) with a trip back to his birth country of Cameroon for college graduation—but Samuel K. has no desire to face a place and a past that abandoned him.
Six Degrees of Separation centers on a charismatic stranger (Ato Essandoh of Blood Diamond) whose entrance into an Upper East Side apartment unsettles the lady of the house (Colin) and her wealthy family and friends. The cast also features Clea Alsip, Lauren Blumenfeld, Candy Buckley, Michael Bradley Cohen, Tim Daly, Ned Eisenberg, Ato Essandoh, Julian Gamble, Daniel Hartley, Lucas Kavner, Ben Mehl, Tom Nelis, James Joseph O’Neil, Dominic Spillane, and Ariel Woodiwiss.
In addition to Six Degrees of Separation, Williamstown’s Main Stage season will include Christopher Fitzgerald in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (June 30-July11), directed by his wife, Jessica Stone; and still-to-be-cast productions of Our Town (July 28-August 8), directed by Nicholas Martin; and Fifth of July (August 11-22), directed by Terry Kinney.
