Broadway.com is happy to announce a new weekly column highlighting the work of artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson. Squigs will kick off this new partnership with a special drawing celebrating the 2010 Tony Awards, which will be unveiled on Broadway.com on Monday, June 14, the morning after the ceremony.
Squigs documents the shows and stars of the theater world with his art. With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, he is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. Squigs was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time, and now calls New York City his home.
A limited number of prints of Squigs’ Broadway.com drawings will be available to purchase.
Squigs previously contributed an illustration celebrating Broadway.com’s Star of the Year for 2009, Rock of Ages star Constantine Maroulis, which can be seen below.
