The 24th Annual Broadway Flea Market will set up shop in Shubert Alley at 44th Street on September 25. Fans can enter the market from 10am to 7pm.
Each year, the event houses various merchant tables which sell a variety of theater memorabilia such as costume pieces, scripts, photographs and more. A Grand Auction also takes place where guests can bid on various prizes that often include walk-on roles in hit Broadway shows. Other highlights include a silent auction as well as a Celebrity Table, where many prominent Broadway stars sit for meet and greets with autograph hungry fans. Participating stars will be announced at a later date. All proceeds from the event benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Last year's Grand Auction was presided by Mad Men star Bryan Batt and Lorna Kelly and featured items such as walk-on roles in Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Chicago; opening night tickets to then new productions The Addams Family and Fela; VIP tickets to tapings of TV’s Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report; the jeans worn by Daniel Radcliffe onstage in Equus; the mask worn by Broadway’s longest running Phantom, Howard McGillin, in his final performance; Gwen Verdon’s top hat from Chicago; and the shirt and tie worn by Tony Award winner Mark Rylance during his acclaimed run in Boeing-Boeing. Stars dishing out autographs at last year's Celebrity Table included Judith Ivey, Gregory Jbara, Chad Kimball, Beth Leavel, Priscilla Lopez, Rebecca Luker, Constantine Maroulis, Marin Mazzie, Christiane Noll, Karen Olivo, Steven Pasquale, Bernadette Peters, Anthony Rapp, Alice Ripley, Chita Rivera, Mo Rocca, Marian Seldes, Christopher Sieber, J. Robert Spencer and Bobby Steggert.
