The fantastical world of Cirque du Soleil will once again take hold of New York's imagination when a new acrobatic spectacle premieres at Radio City Music Hall in June 2011. The show, created especially for the iconic theater, is being written by film and theater director François Girard (The Red Violin, Silk), who will also direct.
The as-yet unnamed new show takes place in an abandoned theater and follows a magician who has lost his love and with her, his magic. As he cries and begs the Gods for her return, he is plunged into a world inhabited by surreal creatures.
The new show will include music and musical direction by Nick Littlemore, an Australian musician and producer who has appeared in the groups Pnau, Empire of the Sun and Teenager. According to the press announcement, "Sir Elton John will be guiding his protege Nick Littlemore through the creative process of this new production."
