Off-Broadway theater company Naked Angels has announced the lineup for its 25th anniversary season in 2011, which will include world premieres of two new plays.
Kicking off the season will be one of Naked Angels raucous festivals of original, topical material: The Issues Project. Naked Footprints: An Issues Project, centered on the idea of sustainability, will run March 24-April 2, 2011, at Comix.
Next up will be the world premiere of A Long and Happy Life by Bekah Brunstetter, commissioned by Naked Angels. The story follows a woman whose life is disrupted by a freak accident, and will get a summer run at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Brunstetter’s plays include House of Home, which premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Oohrah! which debuted off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theater.
In fall 2011, another world premiere, Zayd Dohrn's Outside People, will run at the Sharp. The tale centers on an American man who falls in love with a Chinese girl. Dorhn’s previous work includes the plays Reborning and Sick.
Naked Angels is led by artistic director Geoffrey Nauffts, managing director John Alexander and associate artistic director Andy Donald. The company’s production of Naufft’s play Next Fall made its way to Broadway last season, after a successful off-Broadway run. Naked Angels most recently presented the sold-out run of Edie Falco and Alison Pill in This Wide Night.
