TV personality Charo is cancelling her appearance in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Girl Talk. The actress, famous for her appearances on ‘70s hits such as The Love Boat and her catch phrase “cuchi cuchi!” has withdrawn from the show "to deal with family commitments," according to a production spokesperson.
Charo had been scheduled to join the show from November 3 through its opening on November 14 at the Times Square Arts Center. She hopes to be able to join the show in Philadelphia next month, and make her off-Broadway debut some time next year.
Girl Talk, the follow-up to off-Broadway's Girls Night: The Musical, is described as a raucous celebration of female friendship set during the final broadcast for a producer, two hosts and their favorite guest as they sign off in style from their hit radio show. After a 10-year run, the four characters discover that men and jobs can come and go, but girlfriends are forever. Starring Valerie Smaldone, Sonya Carter, Priscilla Fernandez, Lauren Kairalla and Berty Jay, this interactive musical features hit songs from female recording artists including Beyoncé, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson.
