Opening nights are always a thrill, but when Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive bowed at Second Stage Theatre on February 13, there was something extra special in the air. In the first revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz is joined by TV favorite Elizabeth Reaser as Uncle Peck and his adolescent niece, play narrator L’il Bit. Along with a “Greek Chorus” played by Kevin Cahoon, Marnie Schulenberg and Jennifer Regan, the stars tell the story of a relationship that takes a dark turn during a series of driving lessons. After the curtain fell on this heart-stopping show, the company, including Vogel and director Kate Whoriskey, headed to Manhattan haunt HB Burger to celebrate their success.
