The Beat Is On! Tony-Nominated Afrobeat Musical Fela! Celebrates a Starry Broadway Return

It was a scorching hot summer day on July 12, but even hotter was the stage inside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre as Fela! celebrated its return to Broadway for 32 performances only! Stars Sahr Ngaujah, who garnered a Tony nomination for playing the title character during the show's original Broadway run, Melanie Marshall and Paulette Ivory danced to the beat of their own drum as they brought to life the story of the iconic Nigerian artist, political activist and revolutionary musician. After an enthusiastic ovation, Ngaujah, Marshall and Ivory joined director Bill T. Jones and more for a star-studded after-party at B. Smith Restaurant.
