The West End stage adaptation of Chariots of Fire has extended its run at London's Gielgud Theatre through February 2, 2013. Directed by Edward Hall, the production transferred from North London’s Hampstead Theatre to the West End in May.
Chariots of Fire tells the story of two track athletes—one Christian and one Jewish—who overcome the odds to compete in the 1924 Paris Olympics. Based on the extraordinary true story of Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, Chariots of Fire is an inspirational tale of hope, honor and belief. Written by Colin Welland and directed by Hugh Hudson, the film original 1981 film of the same name won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
The current prodouction of Chariots of Fire stars James McArdle as Harold Abrahams and Jack Lowden as Eric Liddell. The cast also features Sam Archer, Joe Bannister, Antonia Bernath, Natasha Broomfield, Gareth Charlton, Henry Davis, Mark Edel-Hunt, Lloyd Everitt, Daniel Fraser, Nickolas Grace, Leemore Marrett Jr., David Newman, Matthew Pearson, Simon Slater, Savannah Stevenson, Paul Tinto, Simon Williams, Tam Williams and Nicholas Woodeson.
